The Borough Of Brent
The name Brent perhaps comes from the name of a Celtic goddess 'Brigantia'. Need to mention, that is the only Celtic place name in the Borough of Brent in London (North West part), others are Anglo-Saxon. The name Brent derives from the River Brent which runs through the Borough; it divides two major parts of the Borough, Willesden and Wembley. These two separate districts were joined to form the London Borough of Brent in 1965.
The Borough of Brent was not a huge town; it started as a small group of villages and farms surrounded by waters and woods. Only in the 19th and early 20th centuries Brent was transformed into a London suburb due to arrival of railways and house building. It's a multicultural London suburb, which collects a mix of architectural styles as well as a large variety of communities. The Borough of Brent statistics (2001) show that it has the country's highest percentage of people born outside of the UK (46.53%).
Brent is well known in UK and all over the world for Hirst Research Centre, Kuo Yuan, Paddock (war rooms), Post Office Research Station, Watkin's Tower and Wembley Stadium. Of course, there are tones of others famous places in Brent, but these are widely known.
The Borough of Brent in London is also famous for supreme nightlife with high class pubs, restaurant and elite call-girls. It's not the best place for shopping - you will not able to find quality and expensive Cartier, Fendi or Gucci stores, like for example in the royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea. But if you are looking for the place to spend calm and relaxing time in London, the borough of Brent is the best area. Moreover, local citizen are communicative and polite, costs for all services (from food to escorting) are cheaper than in central London.
