The Borough Of Barnet

The Borough of Barnet historically was not a suburb of London, but being so close to the city it played an important and sometimes influential role on the life of the capital. This borough is located at the North of London and was formerly known as part of Outer London. One of the plausible reasons of this area getting settled and becoming part of the city so lately is its poor soil: It is clay-rich and it had been covered by forests for a very long time.

The borough of Barnet was historically made up of two districts: East Barnet and Chipping Barnet (founded at approximately 1100). In the XXth century the borough became a suburb of London: London Government Act of 1963 joined the area to the territory of London.

Today Barnet is divided into 3 administrative areas: North (which is Chipping Barnet) and includes Underhill, Oakleigh, Coppets, Brunswick Park, East Barnet, Totteridge, High Barnet; West (which is Hendon) including Hendon and West Hendon, Colindale, Edgware, Hale, Burnt Oak, Mill Hill; South (which is Golders Green and Finchley) with East and West Finchley, Finchley Church End, Childs Hill, Golden Green, Garden Suburb and Woodhouse.

According to the 2007 year estimation the borough has 339,000 citizens living on it s territory. The borough is known for it strong Chinese and Jewish communities.

With a developed network of transportation means (bus, 3 tube lines, bicycle and 5 road lines and train) the borough of Barnet the area is easy to reach. With multiple call girls and escort agencies spots the borough is easy to have fun at. With nearly 100 pubs and bars the place is easy to get lost in.
